I had the privilege of dining at Rita's Deluxe in downtown Los Angeles in late November.
The building is wonderful, but it burdens me that the theaters and shops in the Jewelry District have deteriorated. Once vibrant symbols of life and prosperity, they now lie hidden under years of neglect.
I'm optimistic that as more resilient leaders take a leap of faith to open in that part of town, it presents the city's best chance at revitalizing the district. Many hardworking people in the area just want a safer work environment. Amid these challenging times, the reopening of more small businesses may bring light at the end of the tunnel.
As for the food, this team has pulled off one of the best modern burger concepts in the country. Don't be afraid to go outside your comfort zone and support the hardworking men and women who make Los Angeles whole.
