Si! Mon is no stranger to the Los Angeles dining scene. If you live on the Westside and still have not been, this is your reminder to book it for your next date or boys night out. Landing squarely in the casual polished lane, the restaurant has many of the key elements you look for in a scalable box.
This is not a tacos and chips situation. Si! Mon moves past the expected and puts a real spotlight on Central American cuisine, fused with California produce in a way that feels modern and confident. The twice fried drumsticks were one of the most shared food photos of 2024 and remain a must order. The miso aged duck is another standout and shows the depth of the kitchen beyond the hits.
Get the coconut rice and add the uni. Double down on the tuna carpaccio on the yuca tostada. The Afro Caribbean shrimp is the dish that really stuck with me and feels like an early signal of a broader movement in modern Caribbean cooking.
There is clearly demand. While concepts like Canje in Austin and Tatiana in New York City have received real notoriety, Los Angeles is still a question mark for whether restaurants like Lucia can truly break out. Si! Mon opened the door in a big way and they are still early, but clearly defining what this category can look like here.
Do not skip the espresso tonic. Sneaky good and an easy way to get going before heading out for the night. Expect good service and roughly a $90 PPA.
